In Osaka, I seem to keep finding hotels that offer good value.

This visit was to Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka in the busy commercial district of Uehommachi.

It was conveniently near transport hubs including Kintetsu Osaka-Uehommachi and Osaka Metro Tanimachi 9-chome stations.

It was not far from Bear Paw Cafe, introduced in an earlier account, making the two easy to combine.

The basement fitness center had modern exercise equipment,

and a heated pool. Neither was free for hotel guests, and the extra charge was considerable, so I did not use them on this stay.

The hotel also had a spa offering treatments such as massages and facials.

The original stay describes breakfast, happy-hour service, and lounge access for Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite members and above, even on the lowest room rate,

allowing a whole day to be spent enjoying the hotel. These were the membership conditions recorded for that stay, not a current benefit check.

We had planned a hotel-focused break, so after early check-in we went straight to the lounge.

It was tea time, with simple snacks, ice cream, and drinks.

The recorded tea-time hours were 10:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., useful for working or relaxing.

The ice cream was individually served by staff.

As we lingered, cocktail time approached.

From 5:30–7:30 p.m. on that stay, drinks and accompanying dishes were freely available in the lounge.

There was a selection of Champagne, whisky, and a little Japanese sake,
and staff would mix a drink to a pleasing balance when asked.

The prepared appetizers were neatly arranged for guests to take individually.

Food included gyoza, nuggets, takoyaki, and okonomiyaki.

Perhaps reflecting the hotel’s long experience, the quality was good.

In the quiet space,

we enjoyed an evening meal with fine drinks and food.

After 7:30 p.m., bar time offered simple snacks such as peanuts and cheese, along with the drinks from cocktail time,

until 9 p.m.

Someone arriving at noon could, in principle, remain in the same place

and eat and drink over a span of nine hours.

On a consecutive-night stay, the account calculated up to 13 hours across breakfast, tea time, cocktail time, and bar time.

After a satisfying dinner, it was time to go to the room.

The original account describes Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka as a large hotel with 579 rooms.

Room sizes ranged from standard rooms to executive suites,

with amenities such as flat-screen TVs, high-speed internet, and quality bedding.

The room itself felt classic and somewhat dated.

There was a table that looked convenient for working.

Bottled water was provided, with more available on request during our stay.

The bed was comfortable, and I slept well.

The next morning, we went for breakfast.

The morning selection was also of a high standard.

The vegetables were fresh, and there were various dishes, including fish we could grill ourselves.

The breakfast breads were also very good.

We checked out after a filling breakfast.

What if we had stayed another night?

The prospect of relaxing and eating until 9 p.m. was appealing.

The source describes Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka as a five-star hotel with what felt like experienced chefs.

It was an established property rather than a new hotel, with good service reflecting its history.

Above all, the lounge service made an impression.

Spending a hotel break being looked after from morning to evening

at that price felt difficult to match even back in Korea.

For me, this was an appealing way to try a classic hotel at an affordable rate.
