Wagyu Rice Bowls and Teppanyaki

For a wagyu meal after Fushimi Inari sightseeing

Photograph from the Wagyudo visit

We unexpectedly found Wagyudo (和牛道), a wagyu specialist near Fushimi Inari Shrine. Its choices range clearly from a straightforward beef bowl to a full teppanyaki experience. The basic wagyu bowl, JPY 3,000, combines thick meat with a gentle truffle aroma, letting the beef lead. For a more substantial meal, the three-cut A5 wagyu teppanyaki, JPY 10,000, offers an open-kitchen cooking display and a chance to compare textures. Salt, wasabi and ponzu change the flavor; with a beer, it made a satisfying meal after sightseeing.

Official Information The source lists three minutes on foot from Fushimi Inari Station, 11 a.m.–8 p.m., with irregular closures. Wagyudo Official Information ↗

Photograph from the Doikatsuman Gion Yasaka visit

The popular eel specialist Doikatsuman (どいかつまん), Gion Yasaka, is described as a five-minute walk from Yasaka Shrine. Selected eel is slowly grilled over a blend of binchotan and processed charcoal, then served with a secret sauce. Choices include unaju eel rice boxes, an unagi-zukushi set featuring several preparations and hitsumabushi enjoyed in three ways. The account names the Gion Yasaka branch just south of the shrine, the main shop near Fushimi Inari and a Kinkakuji branch, allowing a choice based on your accommodation and route. It recommends arriving around opening because queues occur.

Official Information The source lists lunch 11:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., last order 3 p.m.; dinner 5–8:30 p.m., last order 8 p.m.; irregular closures. Public holidays and their preceding evenings require a separate check. Official Branch Information ↗

Around eight minutes on foot from Gojo Station, Kitchen Campanella specializes in curry. Soft noodles meet a black curry broth with deep flavor. Chili, onion flakes, niboshi dried sardines and Kujo scallion add complexity. A soft-cooked egg makes the broth gentler. It looks like curry, smells of spice and finishes with dashi—a memorable combination.

Near Nishiki Market and around one minute from Karasuma Station, Kyounawa serves eel dishes ranging from hitsumabushi and unaju sets to eel sushi rolls and rice balls. Sides such as umaki, eel wrapped in omelet, make it easy to try several preparations. The main shop’s garden-like setting carried a service charge during the visit. The author suggests its branch near Kiyomizu-dera as another possibility for a more economical meal after sightseeing; that price comparison is historical.

Its signature bowl was JPY 2,420, with optional premium toppings such as scallop, uni and salmon roe. An egg yolk adds richness and visual appeal. Finish by pouring in dashi for an ochazuke-style change of flavor.

Official Change Notice The source records that, from July 20, 2026, the name became Wagyu Kazan Oagari — Arashiyama Main Shop (和牛火山おあがり 嵐山本店). Its stated hours were 10:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m., last order 6 p.m. Official Branch Information ↗

Its hamaguri clam ramen combines three large clams, rich broth, chashu and a seasoned egg. Kyoto shichimi or yuzu kosho changes the flavor, while onion works well as a topping. The author saw queues throughout the day; for guests at the Richmond, its almost-next-door location makes it particularly convenient.

Questions about Choosing from the Kyoto Directory

How do I check a restaurant’s map and location?

Choose by area and dish, then open the Google Maps link beneath the introduction. For example, Kaidashimen Kitada is near Kyoto Station, Wagyudo is by Fushimi Inari, and Oagari’s Arashiyama Main Shop is in Arashiyama. Check both the branch name and the route from your starting point.

Where can I find wagyu and wagyu rice bowls?

Around Fushimi Inari, look at Wagyudo for a beef bowl or teppanyaki; in Arashiyama, consider Wagyu Kazan Oagari’s Arashiyama Main Shop for its wagyu bowls. These are different districts, so choose according to that day’s sightseeing.

What can I eat near Kyoto Station?

For ramen, consider Kaidashimen Kitada for shellfish broth and Honke Daiichi Asahi Main Shop for shoyu ramen. Within Porta, Himono Terrace & Stand Himoko offers grilled-fish sets, while Grill Capital Toyotei serves hamburger steak. Plan around both your train and possible meal queues.

Which Arashiyama meal and snack stops work together?

For a meal, consider Wagyu Kazan Oagari Arashiyama Main Shop and its beef bowl; for a snack, Mamemono to Taiyaki Arashiyama Main Shop has red-bean-and-butter taiyaki. Within Randen Arashiyama Station, Kyo no Sake Café Jusan Hachi offers sake and small desserts before or after a walk.

Which places are included around Gion and Yasaka?

For eel bowls and hitsumabushi, look at Doikatsuman Gion Yasaka, and for duck ramen, Gion Duck Noodles. For matcha and a dessert break, consider Kyoto Gion Saryo. Distinguish Doikatsuman’s Fushimi Inari main shop from its Gion Yasaka branch when navigating.

Can Uji matcha cafés fit into a Kyoto-city day?

Uji is a separate city, so it is easier to give it its own sightseeing plan. For matcha and dessert, consider Nakamura Tokichi Byodoin, and for coffee, Starbucks Kyoto Uji Byodoin Omotesando. Nakamura Tokichi here means the Byodoin branch, not the main shop near the station.

Are Ine and Kashikan Hashidate in Kyoto city?

Funaya Restaurant is a seafood restaurant on the second floor of the Funaya no Sato lookout in Ine, northern Kyoto Prefecture. Kashikan Hashidate is a sweets-and-gift shop in Yosano. Both are outside Kyoto city and in different towns, so plan each transfer along a northern Kyoto route.

How should I check menus, prices and opening hours?

Quoted prices and conditions record the original visit. Before departure, check the branch’s official information for its present menu, prices, hours and any reservation requirement. Menya Takakura Nijo and other small shops in lanes are easier to find if you use the map beneath the introduction to confirm the branch and entrance.
