From September 4, 2026 at 11:00, a revised package combining every Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway line, six Tokyo experiences, and one JPY 1,000 dining reduction per day— Tokyo City Pass —was announced for sale. Its one-day promotional price was JPY 1,900, with no announced promotion end date; afterward the regular JPY 2,400 price would apply. Travelers a month or more ahead needed to check the actual purchase-day price.
JAPAN NOW · TOKYO CITY PASS 2026
Subway · six experiences · dining reductionOne-day promotional price at the source check: JPY 1,900
This was more than a transport ticket. The official stated value combined a JPY 1,000 24-hour subway ticket, JPY 3,550 in six experiences, and a JPY 1,000 dining reduction, totaling JPY 5,550. Realizing that full value required actually using every inclusion.
Tokyo Metro’s announcement described the promotional end as undecided. It announced no end to the product itself and stated the regular one-day price afterward as JPY 2,400. October-and-later travelers could not lock a budget to the earlier promotional price.
Compare the one-, two-, and three-day totals
Regular price JPY 2,400; includes a Tokyo Subway 24-hour Ticket and one dining reduction.
Regular price JPY 3,200; includes a Tokyo Subway 48-hour Ticket and up to two dining reductions.
Regular price JPY 4,200; includes a Tokyo Subway 72-hour Ticket and up to three dining reductions.
These three tax-inclusive promotional prices appeared on the official sales page September 5. Optional attractions cost extra. JPY 1,900 for a one-day product was not the per-day price of a two- or three-day package; compare the actual package total.
What the base pass included
All Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway lines for 24, 48, or 72 hours according to the product. JR, Keisei, Tokyu, and other railway companies were excluded.
The package combined the Tokyo Dome City Ferris wheel, Ueno Kotobukiyu bath/sauna, incense at Sensoji, Tsukiji tamagoyaki, a tea-culture museum, and tasting at the Japan Sake and Shochu Information Center. Each experience was usable once during pass validity.
The restaurant list included Sushizanmai, five designated Isomaru Suisan branches, Mo-Mo-Paradise, TOP of TREE, and José Luis Shibuya. One, two, or three reductions followed the pass length; the food bill was paid separately.
Warner Bros. Studio Tour, Sunshine Aquarium, Keisei Skyliner, Art Aquarium, the Roppongi observation deck, and teamLab Planets were paid options rather than base inclusions.
The base contained subway travel, six experiences, and dining reductions. Popular optional attractions cost extra, some with advance date/time reservations. Distinguish base inclusions from paid additions at checkout.

Big-O Ferris wheel
Korakuen/Kasuga stations. The included Ferris wheel had a karaoke function.
Bath, sauna, and towel
Inaricho Station. Check official tattoo, crowding, and facility rules before visiting.
Incense experience
Asakusa Station. Temple operations and events could affect access.
Tamagoyaki
Tsukiji/Tsukijishijo stations. Check opening days and sellouts on the day.
Museum
Shimbashi/Shiodome stations. Museum admission was included.
Three-item tasting
Around Toranomon Station. Tasting was restricted to age twenty and over, with age-verification ID.
This difference was not cash back; it added the official listed values. Using the dining coupon required ordering food at a participating restaurant. The experiences were spread across Asakusa, Tsukiji, Ueno, Tokyo Dome, Shimbashi, and Toranomon. Rushing through all six could add travel time and reduce enjoyment.
Dining coupons: once daily, subject to branch conditions
Mo-Mo-Paradise
The official page described all Tokyo branches of these two brands as participating.
Five designated branches
Only specified branches in Ueno, Akihabara, Shinjuku, Asakusa, and Shibuya.
José Luis Shibuya
Check each restaurant’s hours, reservations, minimum order, and other detailed conditions before payment.
The official FAQ referred buyers to restaurant and discount conditions in the purchase notes. One-, two-, and three-day passes allowed up to one, two, and three uses from the selected start date. This did not guarantee a zero-yen meal or cash change.
Conditions for international travelers
Available under the announced scope
The official announcement targeted inbound visitors while explicitly allowing residents of Japan too. It was not restricted by nationality or residence.
Not listed as a purchase condition
The official product page did not require a passport or temporary-visitor status as an essential purchase/collection condition.
Information page operated
The reviewed source offered Korean descriptions, instructions, facility lists, and a purchase route. This language-specific observation does not establish identical procedures in other languages.
No individual overseas-card guarantee
The FAQ listed various credit cards, WeChat, and Alipay, without publishing card-brand details or guaranteed approval of an individual overseas-issued card.
This was designed for inbound convenience, not a tax-free product with an extra passport-nationality discount. Nor did foreign status itself block purchase under the stated scope. The original advised another physical card and a small backup payment method in case authorization failed.
Three stages from purchase to use
The original reviewed a Korean page where users selected one to three days and paid options. Some options required a date/time. After payment, a QR voucher arrived by email. Follow the actual language-market product instructions rather than assume identical screens.
Scan the voucher QR at a Tokyo Metro/Toei traveler ticket machine to obtain the paper Tokyo Subway Ticket.
Show the app QR at each facility. Attractions were usable once per ticket, and the FAQ required at least thirty minutes between entering one facility and the next.
Paid options are extra, not included
One-way Skyliner
An optional Narita Airport connection.
Aquarium
Option prices could vary by season and date.
GINZA
A paid admission separate from the six base experiences.
Tokyo City View
Check observation-deck opening days and entry times.
Planets
An example option requiring an advance date/time reservation.
Studio Tour
An optional addition to the pass price.
Adding an option did not guarantee it was cheaper. The announcement said only some facilities were discounted; some displayed options could match an attraction’s ordinary online price. Compare the visit date, age category, and attraction’s own official price before adding it.

EDITOR'S NOTE · EVERYDAY TRIP
EVERYDAY TRIP Editorial Team’s advice
The official total assumed every experience and the meal reduction were used. Add the JPY 1,000 subway value only to experiences and dining you actually plan, and compare that sum with the JPY 1,900 source price to avoid inflated savings.
The original suggested Sensoji, tamagoyaki, and Kotobukiyu as an eastern-area day, with Tokyo Dome, Shimbashi, and Toranomon on another. Zigzagging across Tokyo to exhaust every benefit could cancel the practical value of a transport pass.
Book fixed-time activities such as teamLab or the studio tour first, then arrange included experiences and restaurants nearby. Immediately before payment, compare the option with the attraction’s direct official price.
The source confirmed only an undecided promotion end and a JPY 2,400 regular one-day price afterward. Rather than rush into an unsuitable ticket, choose dates, check experience closures, and verify the purchase-day price and expiry.
