JAPAN NOW · TOKYO NEW OPEN
A new Yaesu food destination connected underground to Tokyo Station55 first on September 10; 68 overall in phases
The roughly 6,000-square-meter commercial area combined old Yaesu establishments, popular Tokyo restaurants, new brands, and casual dining. For travelers, its appeal was linking sheltered station movement, highway-bus transfers, and a pre-departure meal in one development.
The official announcement scheduled 55 shops inside TOFROM YAESU TOWER for September 10, with some tower and TOFROM YAESU THE FRONT tenants opening in phases from winter 2026. For a particular restaurant, check its actual opening status and hours in the official list for the date.
Why it could help an overseas itinerary
Access from JR Tokyo Station’s Yaesu side could suit rainy days, suitcase travel, or meals before a Shinkansen.
The lineup combined old Yaesu names such as Kappo Shimamura, described as over 170 years old, and Taikoro TOKYO, over 70, with quicker options such as Gyukatsu Motomura, Komoro Soba, and Starbucks.
The redevelopment’s basement included phase 2 of Bus Terminal Tokyo Yaesu, described as opened earlier in March 2026, linking airport/regional buses with station plans.
Korean, English, and Chinese could be selected, without guaranteeing Korean staff or menus at every tenant, or any uniform in-store language service.
Areas by meal purpose
The official list included Komoro Soba, ramen/tsukemen Sanrinsha, CRISP SALAD WORKS, and Starbucks, options for limited time.
Genres included Kappo Shimamura, Taikoro TOKYO, Gyukatsu Motomura, IMADEYA KAKU-UCHI TOKYO, and Singapore-Chinese Rokunoichi.
An alley-like area included a tempura venue named Ten Yokota Ashitae in the source, associated with a Michelin-one-star lineage, and a new Yakitori Omino shop. Check each venue’s reservation availability and price.
An approximately 1,200-square-meter indoor plaza open through three levels, with a roughly seven-meter tree, movable furniture, and a local portable-shrine display, offering a meeting place before dining.
The building itself offered sights too
The tower’s permanent art project involved eight artist teams responding to a story filmmaker Shunji Iwai wrote for the facility. Combining the ground-floor square, lower-floor passages, and artwork with a meal could make it a starting point for Yaesu/Nihonbashi walking.
The site did not announce a facility-wide tax-free counter or tax-free status for every tenant. Overseas cards, digital payment, allergy arrangements, English/Chinese service, and reservations were shop-specific search filters. A Korean website did not establish Korean on-site service; check each shop’s detail page before paying.
Before-visit checks
- Distinguish September 10’s first 55 tower shops from the full 68 opening in phases from winter.
- Check the Yaesu-side underground connection and intended exit before leaving.
- For specialist restaurants, check reservations, prices, closures, and last orders on the shop page.
- Check each venue’s cards, tax-free, allergy arrangements, and foreign-language service before payment.
- For highway buses, identify the stop and separately allow arrival 20–30 minutes before departure.
- Consider station lockers or hotel luggage storage rather than assuming suitcases fit restaurant aisles.

EVERYDAY TRIP Editorial Team’s advice
These are EVERYDAY TRIP Editorial Team’s itinerary judgments applying official opening information, separate from guaranteed benefits or a firsthand visit.
Yaesu connects well with Shinkansen, highway buses, and airport travel, rather than being a natural detour from every sightseeing area. A 60–90-minute slot while traveling to Kyoto, Sendai, or through Tokyo Station before going home could fit without extra travel cost.
Immediately after September 10, the first 55 were planned to open. Check operating/planned labels before changing an itinerary for one tenant, keeping a quick basement option if the preferred venue is not ready.
For limited-seat venues in YAESU Tokyo-kai, look at reservation availability first. For unreserved meals, the writer suggested avoiding the office-lunch peak of 11:45 a.m.–1:15 p.m. If a connection limits time, a quicker basement meal may fit better.
The underground station connection and Yaesu/Nihonbashi passages were useful. In poor weather, combine indoor dining and art before heading toward Nihonbashi Takashimaya; in good weather, continue along Sakura-dori. Two options reduce weather disruption.
