For Tokyo from mid-October, the original introduced another Ikebukuro shopping stop. Flying Tiger Copenhagen planned a new shop on Sunshine City Alpa’s ground floor for Friday, October 16, 2026. That was 33 days after the September 13 reference date. This concerned a permanent autumn/winter shopping addition rather than a brief sale.
JAPAN NOW · TOKYO NEW OPEN
Ikebukuro’s second Flying TigerSunshine City Alpa 1F; opening October 16
Operator Zebra Japan announced it September 11. About 1,300 Danish-designed household, game, and gift products were planned. This was an ordinary store-opening notice addressing overseas tourists too, not a nationality-exclusive discount.
What was new?
It was described as Tokyo’s tenth and Ikebukuro’s second shop. Distinguish it from the existing Ikebukuro branch and save Sunshine City as the destination.
Sunshine City specialty-shopping area Alpa 1F. Japanese address: 東京都豊島区東池袋3-1-1 サンシャインシティ専門店街アルパ1F.
Plans used a one-way browsing route through about 1,300 items, with Halloween and Christmas goods announced around opening.
This was not a report of a currently operating shop then. Individual prices, delivery, and stock could vary by store and date.
Visitor conditions to check
The new shop’s tax-free/card arrangements were not announced, so the budget did not assume tax-free prices. This was not a verified flight-origin- or passport-specific offer. Ask about unconfirmed points around opening.
Two routes from stations to the facility
Follow Sunshine 60 Street and descend at the underground entrance beside Sunshine Vision. The eight-minute official estimate reached Sunshine City’s entrance; internal movement to Alpa 1F was extra.
Follow passage signs from the Yurakucho Line west ticket gates. Official passage hours were 7 a.m.–11 p.m., potentially changing for inspections.
Sunshine City also includes an aquarium, observatory, planetarium, and shopping. Those attractions have separate reservations/fees; they are not automatically part of the same free shopping visit.
Treat the opening bag as a bonus
The announcement offered a not-for-sale Halløj from Tokyo bag for qualifying shop purchases, one per checkout transaction and subject to the daily quantity. Receipt was not guaranteed. The original focused on the permanent new store, not this five-day offer.
Before-departure checks
- Confirm the visit is from October 16, 2026 and recheck opening changes.
- Save 池袋サンシャインシティストア, not the old branch.
- Check Alpa closure days, shop hours, and crowd-entry arrangements.
- Check wanted items, prices, stock, and new-shop tax-free/card conditions.
- Consider fragile or bulky home goods alongside baggage space.
- Reserve separate attractions such as the aquarium or observatory independently.
- Flying Tiger Japan official September 11 announcement: date, address, hours, products, and gift conditions
- Sunshine City official access: station routes and underground passage
- Sunshine City official Korean information

EDITOR'S NOTE · EVERYDAY TRIP
EVERYDAY TRIP Editorial Team’s advice
These are EVERYDAY TRIP Editorial Team’s itinerary judgments from the announcement, separate from a firsthand visit or guaranteed operator benefits.
This is a Danish household-goods brand, not a Japan-specific one. On a first Tokyo trip, fitting it after existing Sunshine City sightseeing/shopping may use time better than replacing major sights for a detour.
Even inexpensive kitchenware or decorations can be bulky or fragile. Shop toward the end instead of carrying purchases among attractions, considering packaging and flight bags first.
A first-come daily bag could be unavailable even during opening week. Treat it as an extra only if already buying at least JPY 1,500, rather than increasing travel or hotel costs for it.
For a Yurakucho Line stay, Higashi-Ikebukuro’s passage may help. If it adds transfers, compare total time and companions’ bags rather than changing routes solely for a shorter walk.
