For a December Odaiba trip, the original introduced a possible new shopping stop. Animate DiverCity Tokyo Plaza was scheduled to open in early December 2026. As of October 8, no exact opening date had been announced. For an early-December visit, confirm a subsequent notice establishes operation on the intended day before adding it.

A new Animate in OdaibaPlanned for DiverCity Tokyo Plaza’s fifth floor
Announced October 7, it was described as the first newly added Tokyo-metropolis store in about 11 years, not Animate’s first store nationwide. It could suit visitors combining Odaiba sightseeing or nearby performances with anime, manga, and game shopping.
1. Planned early-December opening; exact date to follow
Animate Holdings’ press release gave early December 2026, with the detailed date and opening promotions to be announced later. Whether the shop would operate on a specific visit day depended on subsequent opening information.

The announcement allowed changes, postponement, or cancellation. Before changing fixed flights or accommodation solely for the shop, check the official store page for the latest opening notice.
2. Reach the facility, then go to floor 5 from the west atrium
The announced address was 1-1-10 Aomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo; floor 5, DiverCity Tokyo Plaza (東京都江東区青海1-1-10 ダイバーシティ東京プラザ5階). The operator described the shop as near the escalator arrival on floor 5 from the west atrium by Festival Gate and Zepp Gate.
This was the estimate in the announcement and facility access guidance. Add time after reaching the building to get to the fifth-floor shop.
That estimate was from Exit B to the facility, not a guaranteed total from leaving the train to reaching the fifth-floor store or a guarantee of walking pace.
The facility’s Korean-language official rail-access guide also gave those station walking estimates. With a performance or onward service booked, separately allow internal movement, selecting goods, and payment.
3. Product categories and payment information were given, but opening prices were not
The official store page listed books such as manga and light novels, character merchandise, figures, trading cards, games, CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays. This was general stock-category information, not confirmation that a particular series or item would be available on opening day. Wait for further product notices rather than budgeting for unannounced opening-only items or discounts.
The page listed Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, and transit e-money such as Suica, PASMO, and ICOCA. Country-specific overseas-card restrictions and actual opening-day acceptance had not been established.
The facility’s official service guide showed a tax-free counter, but whether the new store qualified and its conditions were unconfirmed. Staff Korean-language service was also unverified; a Korean-language facility website did not establish in-store language support.
No nationality-based restriction on ordinary purchases was separately established in the opening announcement. That did not mean future promotional events would have no participation conditions. Once announced, check eligible items, purchase amounts, and any membership or reservation requirements.
4. Odaiba shopping checks before departure
- Visit date: Confirm the exact opening and changes; “early December” alone does not establish operation that day.
- Visit time: Announced weekday and weekend/holiday hours differed. Check the latest notice for the date.
- Products and budget: Confirm series/items, prices, stock, and limits. Do not deduct an unannounced discount or tax-free amount in advance.
- Promotion conditions: Opening activities were for a later announcement. Incorporate gift quantities or booking requirements only once known.
- Transport and payment: Add fifth-floor movement and checkout to the station approach, and confirm the intended card/e-payment conditions.

If already planning Odaiba, save it as a candidate. Anime or manga shoppers visiting for sightseeing or a show would gain another option in the same building. With the exact date and prices still unannounced, the report alone was not a reason to change flights or accommodation.
For early December, prepare an itinerary that works without this shop. Add shopping after the actual visit date is established to reduce exposure to an opening change. If a particular product is the main purpose, verify store opening and that product’s stock separately.
Before a performance, consider the route home and shopping bags too. Relying only on a short station walk can leave too little time if the fifth-floor journey or checkout takes longer. Consider purchase size, remaining travel, accepted payment, and a manageable spending limit first.
