KNT’s Kagoshima Support Discount: The Original October 2026 Sales and Eligibility Report

Originally published · Korean source last modified

Kinki Nippon Tourist (KNT) planned to start online sales for Kagoshima Prefecture’s Kyushu Recovery Support Discount at 2 p.m. on October 22, 2026. Tour and accommodation products were eligible for up to 60% off, subject to product caps and available budget. Travelers resident outside Japan also needed to check KNT’s overseas-resident conditions.

Foreign visitors were eligible, but KNT access had separate conditions

Kagoshima’s FAQ and KNT’s Kagoshima guidance explicitly stated that travelers visiting Japan from overseas could receive support. However, KNT’s membership service primarily targeted residents of Japan able to communicate in Japanese. KNT said it did not refuse overseas residents who understood the service restrictions. Products involving postal delivery required an address in Japan where the mail could be received. This did not guarantee Korean-language support or access to every product for overseas residents; no English-language service is established by the original source either.

Discount caps were per person, per trip—not per night

Kagoshima’s support was up to 60% of an eligible travel/accommodation charge, with the caps below. For accommodation-only bookings, the maximum was JPY 20,000 per person per trip even over consecutive nights. Do not repeatedly apply that cap for every night.

Product category Maximum discount per person per trip
Accommodation-only product JPY 20,000
Accommodation with transport: one night JPY 20,000
Accommodation with transport: two nights or more JPY 30,000
Touring product with overnight stays in at least two Kyushu prefectures JPY 35,000

Not every transport/accommodation product qualified. KNT stated that domestic dynamic packages were excluded, and some accommodation facilities did not participate. Business travel was also excluded. Eligibility and the actual discount needed checking on the chosen product’s reservation screen.

KNT covered stays through January 31, excluding New Year dates

KNT’s stated Kagoshima period was stays October 14, 2026–January 31, 2027, with checkout by February 1. That was the KNT period. Stays December 26, 2026–January 3, 2027 were excluded. The prefectural FAQ explained that a contract containing excluded dates or travel outside the eligible period was excluded as a whole.

The prefectural site’s separate statement of stays through February 28, 2027 applied to booking directly with accommodation facilities, not the KNT reservation period. Recheck sales and eligibility periods for the booking channel and product.

Receiving a coupon was not enough: complete the reservation

This KNT sale was online reservations only, not available at shops or the call center. The sequence was to join KNT Members Club, obtain the Kagoshima coupon, choose an eligible product, then check the coupon and discount under the booking screen’s coupon-selection field and complete the reservation.

Discounts were applied in reservation order within the budget, so obtaining a coupon did not secure a discount. If funds ran out before completion, the coupon could no longer be selected. Existing reservations made before KNT’s specified sales start were not retrospectively eligible. It could not be combined with KNT campaigns or discount coupons, employee-benefit support, municipal support, or other listed discounts. A subsidy application form was required at check-in.

EVERYDAY TRIP Editorial Team’s advice

Before the sale, establish whether you can understand the reservation conditions in Japanese and whether the product needs postal delivery and a Japanese receiving address. Check the actual discount and final payable amount on screen before completing. When changing an existing booking, first compare cancellation fees and the new product price. KNT said cancellation fees were calculated on the pre-discount travel price. Neither the discount nor a room should be treated as secured before booking completion.
