Ishibashi Cultural Center in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, announced its Autumn Rose Fair and Autumn Leaves Festival 2026 for October 23–December 6. Event hours were listed as 10 a.m.–5 p.m., with free autumn walks through the rose gardens and Japanese garden. The organizer gave different viewing seasons: late October–late November for roses, and late November–early December for autumn foliage and ginkgo leaves.

This archive photograph of the center’s main gate and central fountain was taken February 3, 2017. It does not show this year’s rose blooms or foliage.
Choose dates according to whether you want roses or autumn leaves
Roses could be viewed in four areas: the garden in front of the art museum, celebrity rose garden, fragrant rose garden, and water-lily-and-rose garden. Later in autumn, a walk could focus on red and yellow leaves around the grounds, including the Japanese garden.
| Purpose of visit | Officially announced season and hours | What to check when planning |
|---|---|---|
| Autumn roses | Late October–late November | Check flowering updates on the special website |
| Autumn foliage and ginkgo leaves | Late November–early December | These are suggested viewing seasons, not a guarantee of that day’s peak |
| Overall event | October 23–December 6, 2026; 10 a.m.–5 p.m. | Rose/Japanese-garden walks free; distinguish separately charged programs |
The official October 23 flowering update said blooms were scattered around the gardens overall. An event opening does not mean roses are in full bloom. Likewise, a suggested foliage season does not establish today’s color; check the operator’s latest information before leaving.
Separate free walks from paid facilities and night events
The free notice applied to this rose-and-foliage event, not every paid activity or facility. Kurume Illumination Museum of Light 2026 at the same site was separately ticketed, not a free evening extension of the daytime walk.
Facilities and counters within the center closed Mondays, except when Monday was a Japanese public or substitute holiday. Check the individual facility’s calendar if combining the walk with an art museum or indoor visit.
There are two Kurume stations; check the final bus segment
The venue was Ishibashi Cultural Center (石橋文化センター), 1015 Nonakamachi, Kurume, Fukuoka. Nishitetsu buses took about 15 minutes from JR Kurume Station or five minutes from Nishitetsu Kurume Station, alighting at Bunka Center-mae (文化センター前). Even on the listed routes 1, 9, 20, 22, and 25, confirm that the service calls at the center.
The tourism association also gave about 14 minutes on foot from Nishitetsu Kurume. The two Kurume stations are different, so choose the final segment after checking which station your rail route reaches. Parking cost extra, and the center anticipated congested parking in October–November’s flower-viewing season.
EVERYDAY TRIP Editorial Team’s advice
For a free garden walk alongside a Fukuoka trip, first choose a rose-focused visit or a foliage-focused visit from late November. Rather than expecting both to peak together, adapt the walk to the latest flower and leaf updates. Separate the daytime event ending at 5 p.m. from the night event, and check return buses too.
